If you're "bright" enough...

...then you figured out we got a new light fixture!  The other day we were at Lowe's just to look around and I showed Jake some pretty chandeliers that I liked.  While beginning to walk away from them to the next department I looked back and was surprised to see he was putting the box in the cart!  So here are before and after pics for you.

How it looks today!...

Well, what do you think?  I'm super happy with it.  I love my chandelier, but honestly I think the addition of the personal pictures made me the most happy.  It instantly made the house feel like a home.  Also, adding the black frames gave the room the contrast it needed where it had just felt kind of bla before with the light blue walls blending in with the white curtains.
Minus a little tweaking, I'm happy with this room for now.  Long term plans include swagging the chandelier so I can move the table closer to the window wall, a rug, a longer buffet, replacing the end chairs with nice parson chairs or the like, possibly a table runner and maybe new curtains.

Kitchen Progress

DISCLAIMER: These pictures were taken at night and are a poor representation of the paint color. It's a much more soft and muted blue than it appears.
__________

I wont call these before and after pics. They are before and progress. Long term goals are to paint the cabinets white and get black granite counters, a nice backsplash and under cabinet lighting. We'll slowly switch over to stainless appliances. Also definitely change out all of the light fixtures. I'd like 2 pendant lights above the island instead of the globe that's there now. Some simple things.... the decor is a work in progress as well. All we have on the table right now is a basket of napkins, not the ideal centerpiece. I think that table is screaming for some hydrangeas, I'm thinking pale green. Also we need a window treatment for above the sink.

Anyway, the changes we did make.... it was a HIDEOUS paint color before. So obviously we changed that. We also changed out the hardware on the cabinets, deep cleaned the grout on the floor and added our furniture. We got a new table and chairs that I LOVE. It comes with a leaf and we can seat 8 people. At our last house it was only 4... was really hard when we had people come over. I love how much potential this kitchen has, its such a great space... Love our house!

That's all I'll say for now. But anyway here are the pics in no particular order....
