Making a House...Someone Else's Home

Well we've been seriously talking about moving since October. We have since decided we would list our house no later than the end of spring. I've been needing to get a lot of done to get our house ready to sell, but it seems all I've had time to do lately is try desperately to keep up with basic chores.
However, this unseasonably warm weather has given me that extra burst of motivation and energy I need to start doing these projects. My living room/kitchen area has been in the process of redecoration for nearly a year now. I had an idea for what I wanted to do, wasn't liking it, and now finally have a vision for the direction I'm heading. It's funny to think I'm decorating a room just so I can move out of it. But staging is just about everything when you are trying to sell your house.
One tiny project I just completed was replacing these 3 adorable frames I had in my kitchen. They were from my old color palette: teal and brown. New colors are gray, purple, yellow and a light blueish color. I've been wanting to find 3 square frames in black or silver to replace them and I've been looking for months and haven't found any. So I finally caved and bought one long and narrow black frame that has a white matte and 3 openings for 5x7 landscape oriented photos.
Well.... if you know anything about selling a house, you know you are not supposed to have personal photos all over the place. You want potential buyers to picture themselves living in your home. So what did I do? I went to Hobby Lobby and bought 3 pretty pieces of scrapbook paper that go with my color scheme and put them in the frame. Fun little project and turned out great. (if i do say so myself)
So many more projects to do around the house but I am so motivated. I am desperate for a bigger house and whatever I have to do to get there I'll do it!

  2. Thanks! Yeah I'm obsessed with design blogs. I get lost in them for hours. I can't wait until we get into our next house so I can steal some of the ideas I've seen. Have fun with your projects!
