Tragedy

What a weekend. It started out on a high. My family came to town to help us work on the house. We got a lot of painting done. Changed out the hardware on all the cabinets in the house and put down even more contact paper. Everything came to a screeching halt when saturday night I heard of some terrible news. Jake and my friend, Grace Stanton... who is the friendliest, sweetest most beautiful soul. The kind of person that EVERY time you talk to her she puts a smile on your face.... well... she was killed in a car accident. Her and her boyfriend Josh were driving up to Kansas City to go stay on the Plaza and Josh was actually planning to propose. Well on the drive up a semi pulled out in front of them, totaled their car and took Grace's life. Josh survived but I can't imagine he is mentally in very good shape. Please pray for everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. It is crazy to me that that is exactly what Jake and I did, drove up to KC, stayed on the Plaza and he proposed. We've actually already booked our hotel for next month to stay at the same place we did then and celebrate our anniversary. It is going to be a somber drive, especially as we drive through the city where the accident happened. Grace is so very missed. Her visitation is tomorrow. It's going to be so hard, I can't imagine what her family is feeling.

Josh and Grace

And then as most everyone knows there was an awful tornado Sunday night. It is a scary thought when you think about what the citizens of Joplin went through and have yet to go through. We will be praying for them for sure. It makes me even more grateful we live in a house now that has a basement.
